Personal background
Well, I'm 19 years old, currently enlisted in the Army (Go Army, hooah!) When I'm not working in the finance office, I play paintball, work on my website, and of course, tinker with computers. Right now, I have a Dual PIII Xeon 500 box and an old celeron 466 box crunching full time. I also have a P4 2.2 ghz box that I crunch on when I'm not using it otherwise.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that there is life out there somewhere, the universe is too big for us to be alone. As to when and how we'll find them, that remains to be seen. It is possible that we will find them by mistake, but it seems more likely to me that they will reveal themselves when they're ready. It could be a mistake to attempt contact if they are indeed hostile, but it's a risk I think we should all be willing to take.

I started running SETI@Home about 2 months ago. I had read about it years ago when the project was started, but never got into it, and ended up totally forgetting about it. Then I noticed that a website that I visit frequently had a SETI team, so I started crunching for them, averaging about 10 WU's a day.
