Personal background
I'm from a small town in Western New York near Buffalo. No, I'm not a Buffalo Bills fan. I enjoy sports, computers, and learning.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I think extraterrestrial life exists. I think that if the life forms are not super intelligent; we will discover them by accident. If they are super intelligent, we will discover them when they want use to discover them. I'm reminded of a quote: "Either we are alone in the universe, or we are not. Both are equally terrifying?", by Arthur C. Clark.

Do I think humans should transmit a beacon for others to find? Well, like most answers in the universe, it depends. What are humans going to do if the beacon is discovered? How will humans act if other life forms are discovered? I think we should transmit a beacon to help my curiosity of what's out there, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for what's out there or what's not out there.
