Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do I run Seti? I think Seti is almost garunteed to succeed because the odds of us being the only habitable world in the universe, our galaxy, or even our local area has to be impossibly low. I've heard a qoute say that life wants to exist and there is evidence for that here on earth. Even in earth's most harsh environmentswe find life, though it may only be single celled. I also think that the Seti project is a historic set of events, the larget mass computing project ever, so why not get involved. The project however might try looking for ET closer to home. There are hundreds of sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects from very credible wittnesses; pilots, college grads, people that have everything to lose from reporting these sort of things in our society. Hopefully someday the giggle factor will finally go away when it comes to such a subject.
