Profile: man from mars

Personal background
I'm 49 years young, single, live in Portland,Oregon.I've just accepted a job doing building maintence where I live, which is very convenient. My medium term goal is to return to college for my electronic engineering degree;I hope to be able to keep this relatively simple job while attending school,to help pay my way through school.I enjoy reading, love science fiction/science fact.Really like the current tv series,'Andromeda'.I have always believed that we are not alone in the universe;I also believe in reincarnation.I have thought that some religions may even hide within their history evidence of past visitations from space travelers.I do believe that we have been visited throughout the ages by 'et's';that our progress has been influenced by those visitors.I think it is even possible that our ancient ancestors are 'seeds' of alien visitors mixing with the population of earth in beginning times.
I am very happy to participate in SETI@home.This is my second time linking up;I had computer problems in the past, and had to stop.I am pleased to be able to be part of this great effort again.I think this is an excellent way to utilyze resources.I have also been part of another current multiple linked computers research project, but chose to switch back to SETI because this is a stronger interest.Perhaps when I get a second computer I can link one to SETI and the other to the other project.
Finally,I am a physically active man;like to jog, practice tai chi,and bicycle.I do not own a car because I don't need one and because I believe auto's are destroying our world.I enjoy building models and making jewelry from wood, bone and other 'found' materials. Also write, as a hobby (and compulsion,at times!).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe the SETI@home is an excellent project;I am undecided about whether the government should finance the project because I do not think it is always a good idea to have the government's 'hand' in projects like this-because the 'government' has a tendency to want to keep secret any discoveries that may come from a project it is involved in.I can picture the discovery of 'et' being hushed up by the government. That may happen,in any case;but at least this way there is some chance of the general public knowing about the discovery before the control nuts get a chance to bury the discovery.
I think we will "discover",via SETI@home,extraterrestrial life that's developed enough to transmit signals across space and time.I have stated in my profile that I believe we have been watched and visited by 'et's' for a very long time.I think that sometime in the next 25-50 years those et's will make their presence known world wide. They have,I believe, been monitoring, and at times, influencing our progress, and are just waiting for a time when they think we can handle the revelation of their presence.Of course,no matter when that happens, there are bound to be problems, because we will not ALL be ready to accept their existance.I suppose some governments,or military organizations,or even private,wealthy/powerful folks may try to control the 'et phenomena', but I believe that ultimately we will make the adjustment, and will begin the next great phase of our species' development.
I do believe we should send signals out into space,if for no other reason than to demonstrate that we are capable of doing so,and that we are interested in doing so.I think that 'the watchers' know quite well what we are up to,but we are obligated, independent of all that,to use all means at our disposal to 'reach for the stars'.I wish their was more private investment in developing space travel as well as sending out drones carrying information about us,on a regular basis, into different quadrents of space. There is so much accumulated private wealth just wa
