Personal background |
Currently, I reside in Ottawa, Canada, and have done so for the past 20 years (excluding time spent in University). I was born and raised in Plock, Poland, and left there at the tender age of 9. I studied Biomedical Engineering at the University of Guelph and my interests were always in biology, medicine, and engineering. However, all of my professional experience lies in telecommunications, specifically lasers.
Currently, I am studying towards an MBA at the University of Ottawa. I'll be done by May 2005.
I'm a rabid motorsports fan and enjoy Formula 1, the Le Mans 24 hours, the American Le Mans Series, Trans-AM, MotoGP, DTM, BTCC, and enything else that has wheels and goes really fast while making lots of noise. I frequent race tracks that are in my area including Mosport, Mont-Tremblant, and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. I've also been to Laguna Seca in California for the ALMS race in 2000.
I've recently took to water like a duck and started sailing on the Ottawa River. Currently, I'm the genoa trimmer on a Kirby 25 which has a number of wins. Hopefully, the crew can maintain their good record and score wins in 2003!
I also enjoy photography and make an effort to merge my hobbies. Hence, motorsport photography is a real passion. Maybe an obsession! |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I don't think that extraterrestrial life exists, I know it does. Whenever I get asked why I keep on running my SETI@home client, I always come back with a line from Carl Sagan's "Contact" which states that the universe would be a waste of space if it was just for us.
I'm not sure the we'll make contact in my life time, or in a 100 life times. However, we have to try. It is a human instinct to explore the unknown and seek answers to our questions. Otherwise, whats the point of us being here?
