Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, the rest of the universe has a few million years head start on us(we've been hit twice by asteroids and life had to start over here)so of course they are going to be more advanced then us.

I believe that they will show themselves when Earth has matured past its warlike tendencies and can live together peacefully.

Medical benefits and dangers of contamination on both sides. Maybe some tech help but we need to advance slowly.
We should send a beacon, but to warn to make contact from a distance(come to close and some idiot will try to shot you down)
If you do not look you will not find, I feel that the project is a fantastic way for everyone to do their part in a possible first contact.
