Personal background
Yes, that\\'s me! Now turning the big 4 this year, my enthusiasm for all things related with space hasn\\'t changed ever since: in the early 70\\'s - when this picture was taken - the first steps on the moon just happened, Star Trek appeared for the first time on German screens and as well this unique German Sci-Fi series called \\"Raumpatrouille\\" (space patrol). My whole family gathered to watch it every Sunday evening, never missing a single episode. That\\'s how it all began. Today, we still gather whenever possible, but the spare time to watch it has gone. Anyway, the little boy\\'s phantasy remained: there must be somebody out there and we\\'ve got to find them sometime, somewhere, somehow...:-)

I live in the south-west corner of Germany, the small state called Saarland, very close to France and Luxembourg. Paris is just half the way to Berlin, so this is doubtlessly the most French place in my country. And the French \\"laissez-faire\\" mentality makes it a wonderful place to live. Everything goes a bit slower here, but therefore people never take things too hard. I work in the administration of a translation office. Most important to me are my loved ones, of course: my family, my friends and colleagues, but also my interests: my Macs, my PC, my music, bikes, fine arts, politics and good food - in other words: everything that makes life a wonderful thing worth living - or as people here use to say: \\"Hauptsach, mir hann gudd gess!\\" (The main thing is we had good food!).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It\\'s such a simple, fantastic and stunning idea collecting useless spare circles to make them useful for all mankind without commercial interest. At least any effort to do so is worth being supported and how much more the use of the projects involved. My respect for all scientists, users, volunteers and congratulations to Berkeley for being the home of this great idea. Enjoy my circles, I give\\'em to you gladly!

SETI? I don\\'t know. But I know we just have to try...
