Personal background
I'm an instructor for New Horizons CLC of Colorado. I teach Windows 2000 and Linux networking courses. My background is actually in history, and my hobbies are primarily sci-fi/fantasy book collection, Gran Turismo 3 and working on my house.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I don't know whether I believe ETs exist or not... But I certainly believe that the search is as important as the finding. We can learn plenty about ourselves and the galaxy around us even if we never make contact or if there's nothing to make contact with.

For example, SETI itself is an example of what we can achieve. Working together we can combine our knowledge, our power and our enthusiasm to attempt something none of us could try on our own. That's as important as anything we might find.
