Personal background
Hi! I'm 23 years old, and I'm a Software Engineer for a small company in Virginia. I like to program also in my spare time, coming up with useful tools and time-saving automation systems.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think extraterrestrial life exists. Ever since I was a little kid (as opposed to the big kid I am now) I've thought this. The mathematics of it are just too staggering for anyone to think otherwise.

I run SETI@home because I believe in it, and it is such an innovative way to go about it: many computers on the Internet, functioning loosely as a gigantic number cruncher. I think this has definite applications elsewhere, but I know that the SETI program has its own share of budget problems and such. In this way, I feel like I am helping to fulfill SETI's mission. Who knows, maybe one of the computers I have running this thing may find a good source signal?

In my heart, I am a dreamer, and that helps with anything to start with a dream. How else would SETI have started? Just thinking about the possibilities is just the tip of the iceberg for these kinds of projects.
