Profile: Slaghead

Personal background
I'm 32 years old and live in Portland, Oregon. I've been a SETI@Home user for about 3 years now. I found out about S@H from some people at work and have been crunching on and off ever since. I am also a proud member of The Planetary Society.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think it is very possible that life exists outside the confines of Earth. I have serious doubts that we will detect any radio transmissions from any such life-form during my lifetime.

Transmitting a beacon to other civilizations couldn't hurt, but I doubt anyone would ever receive it. Unless of course there really is a Klingon-like empire with space ships running all over the galaxy and such.

I think the S@H project is great in that it made distributed computing what it is today. Now if Berekely would give me a Sun workstation to crunch WU's faster then I'd like the project even more!
