I'm a 39 yr old software engineer from Florida. My hobbies are fishing, golfing, and throwing darts. I have always been interested in our universe. I remember watching the Apollo landings on TV when was 7. My father had to keep waking me up and making me watch, as I was nodding off to sleep at the time. He worked for Grumman at the time. They built the lunar lander. As an adult came across a book by the great Arthur C. Clarke, 'Rendevous with Rama', and have been hooked on his writing ever since. I hope to see the day when we discover intelligent life outside our tiny world. From a distance, preferably. Not that I think they'd have bad intentions toward us, but, our own history shows that when we first contact previously unknown life on our own planet, it usually turns out very bady for one or both species.

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

1.Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? If so, when and how will humans discover it? What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?
It's ridiculous to assume ET life does not exist. I hope to see the day when we discover intelligent life outside our tiny world. From a distance, preferably. Not that I think they'd have bad intentions toward us, but, our own history shows that when we first contact previously unknown life on our own planet, it usually turns out very bady for one or both species. A benefit would be, maybe people would wake up and stop believing and killing for ancient fairy tales.
2. Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? If so, what information should we send?
We are already blasting EM noise for any neighbors to detect.
3.Why do you run SETI@home? What are your views about the project? Any suggestions?
I want to contribute. SETI@home is a great use of all the idle time on millions of computers.
Suggestion: Make a 'WHAT IF' documentary and air it on The Discovery Channel.
