Personal background
Maybe I have a much better chance of winning a multi-million dollar lottery than in finding ET through SETI, but finding ET would be millions of times more valuable than winning the lottery.

I attended my first RASC meeting in September 1956 and joined the following month. I paid the outrageous sum of $75 to become a life member in 1961. Wish all my other investments paid off so well.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. As an expression of hope, no matter how small the chances.
2. It's a project of faith within science.
3. Suggest software allow older computers with earlier OS work with SETI -- I have a museum of computers I could dedicate to SETI.
