I am really worried about the preferences expressed on the survey page concerning the sending of a message. Are people really that keen to draw us to the attention of things so completely unknown to us? There is an implicit assumption that a more advanced civilisation will be friendly (or at least not openly hostile). I don't think that we can make that assumption. Whatever may be out there, it will not be human, and there is no telling how it will view us. They may see us as an amusing species for hunting, or even as a dinner-table delicacy.
