Hello from Youngsville, NC.
I'm Casper.
I'm in the "over 40" range.
Usually I work at a c-store to make a paycheck, but my gypsy-heart is always on the road. I have a small vending operation and spend the summer and fall working at various music festivals. I sell t-shirts, bumperstickers, incense and many other novelties.
Ten years ago (1993) I underwent a mental breakdown which became the turning point of my life. Sometimes, I guess, you have to crash your whole system in order to get rid of the clutter and see things clearer. I decided I didn't like what I was seeing so I rewrote my program and created a new "me".
I am very much into Neil Young's music/art. I guess I have a pretty heavy interest in a lot of 60's/70's music, but I don't really park myself into one frame of being. A good lesson to be learned from Mr. Young.
I got into herbology after the breakdown and as a result, I haven't taken manmade medicationor been to a doctor for anything in 10 years. I've also taken interest in massage therapy and aromatherapy ways of healing.
I associate very well with the native american way of life, but also borrow from various oriental and far east concepts as well as wiccan. The like link between them being the life energy and earth bound concept.
I've been a borderline vegetarian since about 1997. I buy organic and from local farmer's markets whenever possible. I've been a FARM AID supporter since 1996.

I do believe there is other existing life outside of our "neighborhood".
I almost fear the time when (and if) contact is made, given man's way of making aquaintence with new folks. I mean look at how America was discovered (invaded) and how the tenants (native americans) at the time were treated. Some long standing cultures and many miles of beautiful country were just chewed up and spat out ... and all based on an ideal of the europeans that their way was "the" way to be.
In the here and now, that ideal is more in the way than ever. Should contact be made with another lifeform, they would probably be made to conform and another culture would become history. Not to mention, it would get so security coated, most of would probably not even get to know about the contact at all.
If they ever do contact ... I hope it's with those of us who are open minded enough to greet them and accept them just for themselves.
I don't know what SETI@home is gonna show me ... I need more time to check this place out. I like the idea of the project and if my participation helps at all, so be it. |
