Personal background
I'm a student. I run seti. It are fun.

EarlSimmons: 1.4ghz AMD Athlon, 2048MB DDR, 560GB IDE RAID 5 Storage System, Linux-Mandrake 9.0, Large SuperMicro case. This PC is a server I keep various types of media on.

EveJeffers: 1.33ghz AMD Athlon, 1024MB DDR, 2x60GB Maxtor 7200rpm HDDs, Windows 2000 Pro. This computer is my primary workstation.

SiwzzBeats: 300Mhz CeleronA @ 366mhz, 256MB SDRAM, 30GB storage, Linux Mandrake 9.0. This is a web server, firewall, and DMZ all in one. Does its duty, been chugging along for 4 years now (only a few weeks at seti@home...)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Something has to be out there. By pure probability, you have to figure some distant planet at least has a form of bacterium on it. I'm not a biologist, astronomer, or anything of the like. I'm a mathematician/computer enthusiast. Some people have blind faith that a god exists, I have [semi-]blind faith in the idea that something is out there.
