| I graduated from Queen Annes County Highschool, and Joined the united states Army at 19. I then spent 8 years of what i think of as the best time of my life Jumping between germany, iraq, somalia, bosnia and Ft. Hood texas. Worked for an isp for a number of years installing configuring and administering systems and networks. Now I am out of the Army, and find that i have a neurological disease that plays havoc with my body and mind. Somtimes i wonder if I'm not some alien child left here deserted on this planet because the way i feel the way i act and my beliefs are so totally different than anyone else, or the way anyone else is supposed to act or feel. I'm basically a toddler trapped in a growing body that cant escape. |

As far as do i think life exists in the galaxy. I think that it is absurd of people to think that in a galaxy as vast as the one that we live in that there is no life out there. I believe that they know that we are here, hove come here from time to time, and laugh at us. If they dont want to be found, they wont. We will discover them WHEN they want us to find them.
as far as transmissions of beacons etc. some people might think that i watched star wars too many times, but if there happens to be some kind of war happening some where, or some kind of species that decides that it wants to take over and destroy everything in its wake, setting up a beacon is basically telling them, i'm here, come get me. secondly, any information that we Do send would be garbage to them, 1 do to linguistics, and 2. when it comes to universal comunications, radio communictations are so slow that they could probably fly from point a to point b and vocaly tell someone whats happening, before the radio comunication ever arrives. this form of comunication would be very archaic to them. The only race we could really ever hope to communicate with would be one that is on the same evolutionary timeline as our own.
I run seti@home only because i feel deep down inside that SOMETHING si going to happen within the next 10-20 years, The first contact will be some form of verbal comunication, and seti can use alll the processing power it can get. |
