Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think ETL exists throughout the galaxy and the universe, but I don't believe that it has or will (in the near future) venture as far as Earth. I do beleive, however, that they may be searching for us, just like we are searching for them, and may also broadcast a variety of invisible light frequencies (radio waves) that we might be able to detect. I think such a discovery would be incredible, even if we learn nothing more from it. This is why I run SETI@Home.
Oh, if we were to send a signal in to space (in the direction of the main mass of the galaxy, so that it might actually be found in the next few million years), and I think we should send one on many many frequencies, we should include only a sequence of prime numbers, either in "audio" type or binary. I think that like us, an alien species would be overjoyed with simply learning of the existance of Someone Else, and extra bloat would be unnceccary.
