Let me see...
I'll try to put thing so that I could have a reference. Lets assume that in the city live in, every person represents stars in our galaxy (I think that the ratio would be thousands of stars to a person) and the rest of the people in the world in their cities represent other stars and galaxies respectively. Then SETI is like living in a high building looking out into my own city searching for someone to break a red glass on a black table then yelling back at me so that I can see them) that he/she just broke a red glass on a black table and my task would be to lip read what language they yelled back in. I think it is possible, but not very probable. But hey, if we don't try, who will? |
