Personal background |
I am interested in computer programming and plan to major in Computer Science or perhaps Computer Engineering. I enjoy watching Star Trek, Friends, The Simpsons, and Family Guy on TV and I also enjoy computer games such as Unreal Tournament and the Grand Theft Auto series. I like baseball to a certain extent and have even been known to play it from time to time. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
It seems to me that extraterrestrial life almost certainly exists given the immeasurable distance the universe spans. It is likely that life itself is more a statistic than a miraculous rarity. I personally do not know how or if humans will ever encounter extraterrestrial life, but it is probable that if such a discovery is ever made without any sort of direct intervention by another species, it will depend on much more highly advanced technology than we currently possess. Benefits of a discovery are hard to gauge without knowing anything about the alien species, but regardless I think we should continue to search for possible signs. I run SETI@home because I want to contribute to the project in any way I can, and because it is so effortless to do so in this way, it seems selfish not to. |
