Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have been interested in space and space travel, since grammer school, having grown up during the "space race" between the United States and Soviet Union.

Yes, I do believe extraterrestrial life does exist and believe that they will visit Earth (again???). I believe the benefits of making contact can't even begin to be imagined and obviously they would be light years ahead of us technologically and socially.

I think a beacon transmitted from earth would be an excellent idea, but don't expect to see anything like this happen in the near future. I would assume the costs involved in this type of project would be huge and would have to be shared by a group of countries.

I run SETI@home, hoping I can make some small contribution to the project. Certainly, finding a signal packet that contains a possible transmission is my goal, but I am content knowing I can assist with such an awesome project.
