Profile: Kevin the Kiwi

Personal background
Live in the small town of Marton, in the lower North Island of New Zealand. Just about to crack 50, but sit here at home with my 2 year old grandson Caleb, who lives with us. Also my wife, Michelle, our 21 year old son Jesse, who is a Computer Graphics/Animation nut and our sole Siberian Husky Belle (last left from a team of 6). My passion is Ham Radio, followed by photography, music, Astronomy and Antarctica - am a "Polie" (wintered 1977-78). Hate computers with a vengeance, but only recently quit fixing the things last year after 25 years of it. My only employment now is looking after the local Civil Defence Radio Network, and fixing up our somewhat homely but scruffy house.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI? Well, I have had enough experiences throughout my life to be actively positive. An "Encounter" in 1983, along with my wife and a number of other witnesses around Wellington, left me with no doubt. Logic and common-sense alone tell me we can not be alone, and with the growing knowledge of planets outside our Solar System, I believe it is just a matter of time. I run SETI@Home to allay my lack of power, and this way, if the revelation hits, I know I would have been part of it. There is no more comforting thought for people on the edge to be with like minds.
