Personal background
Greetings, I'm 21 as of Nov. 23rd 2001. I run a computer store in the Tampa Bay Florida area with my business Partner Adam Hughes. I spend a good deal of my day Coding on one of the linux boxes in the back room and performing administrative tasks on all the business sites we cater to. I enjoy Inventing and designing all kinds of things from mini solid state lasers to my own battle bot :P I spend a good bit of time theorizing about possible ways to achieve FTL communication and travel as well as other scientific venues since Quantum physics has been my second love since I first heard the shroedinger's cat thought experiment about 13 years ago. In my free time or when a computer comes in to repair I generaly ask the customer to help us participate in the seti@home project, the way I look at it is anyone else I can get to help, helps us all in the bigger picture, and most of them like the "neat" screen saver if nothing else :) I also enjoy playing Online Games (UT/CS) as well as Guitar/Saxaphone during midnight jam sessions heh and I love to participate in martial arts competitions.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As many have said before, it'd be a great waste of space if we were all alone, the lonely blue speck in the vast expanse of our universe.

My views on extraterrestrial life are pretty simple, I look at the universe and everyone in it at our base level, energy, and that energy seems to always find away to connect with other energy so if the same holds true in a macroscopic view of things I'm sure some other civilization is out there looking just as hard as we are, its pretty much a sure thing there will be contact one day, when and where are the only questions in my mind.

The Seti at home project is a wonderful step foward in helping all of humanity reach for something more, and seeing this many people from all different diversities of life working towards the same goal, with no boundries of country, culture or bigotries in the way, is an inspiring thought of unity for the future.

As for transmitting a beacon, I think it would be a good idea. Hey maybe we'd even get lucky enough to stumble upon some civilization that could send an FTL response. Doesn't matter much what we said Most Viable thing I would think would be math, Primary numbers and then possibly our coordinates relative to something ;) Who knows, anything would suffice as a hello, except of course, the Taco Bell DOG, we dont need an intergalactic incident before we even get started. 8-\\ Ta Ta
