Profile: Radish

Personal background
Living & working in Southampton, UK, with my fiance Angela, our cat Carter USM, and my lizard.
30 years old, still enjoying the festival lifestyle, looking forward to Glastonbury 2002! Love music (The Wildhearts, PWEI, Queen), film (High Fidelity, Star Wars, Grosse Point Blank), used to run a comic/sci-fi store (Forbidden Planet, Southampton branch), still trying hard to not be a geek!
Pet hate - people who buy/drive nice convertables, but DON'T take the roof down when it's sunny!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'd like to think I try to keep an open mind on most subjects, including the question of extra-terrestrial life. As someone who has grown up with influence from great sci-fi & fantasy, including Star Wars, Tolkien, Marvel & DC Comics, I have developed a keen imagination, accepting that anything is possible, and an interest in the search for other intelligences, and I am happy to be able to play a part, however small, in that search.
It seems reasonable to accept that life other than our own exists, perhaps we ourselves are not completely indigenous to this planet! (I've always been slightly suspicious of the parasitic appearance and nature of our brain & nervous system, living off of our bodies!?!)
As for transmitting a beacon for others to find, why not? If we're looking for others, it's possible others are looking too, and it's just a question of who finds whom first!
