Personal background
I'm from Boise, Idaho, but go to school at Central Washington University. I'm 20, and I'll be a junior, pursuing a degree in music performance. I play the viola and I love it dearly. I also play the piano, and violin, but the viola is where it's at. And I started on the viola! None of this play-the-violin-first-then-switch-when-you-realize-it's-better nonsense. :) While I love music (all kinds), I like learning about new things. Not necessarily taking classes on them...Anyway, I'm completely fascinated by this effort. "It'd be an awful waste of space..."

I'm having some issues getting this thing working...it's been a while since I've had it on my computer, but I can't get it to download any work! I'm visiting another university, and staying on campus, so it may have to do with their network...who knows. Hope I can get it to work sometime. Well, I should get back to practicing - story of my life! And any music major's life, for that matter. Always thinking about practicing...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I started running SETI because of my science teacher in 8th grade. He had as his screen-saver, and I was fascinated by it. I asked what it was, and I thought it was so cool. I've always loved learned about astronomy and such - I really don't know much - I wish I did. I think it's great to be able to involve other people, and a good way to distribute work. It's gratifying for people who use it, and it must be awful handy to get other people to help with the workload. I appreciate the fac that it can run in the background and not slow up the computer. I think it's a very romantic thought - that there's someone else out there. I don't know if there is, or if there isn't, and if there is, what they're like, but as I quoted before...it'd be an awful waste of space.
