Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I've always been i Sci-Fi junky. Space flight and travel have always intrigued me. As a matter of fact I joined the Sub force in the navy because I figured that was the closest experience to space travel i would ever get. You know, completely cut off from the rest of the world for some period of time. Completely dependent on yourself and buddies. Well anyway, it wasn't quite what I expected. But it was also more than I expected. I still think it's the closest experience I'll ever get. But if I ever do get the chance now I know I can hang. I guess my interest in SETI@home is an extension of that. If we ever do find life out there we're that much closer to regular space travel. Then we'll have a reason to speed up our research in that area, because then we'll have someplace to go.
