Profile: MattRamseyer

Personal background
32 year old "jack of all trades" computer guy administering and supporting development and test servers for a big company in Dallas, Texas. I am a "sell out" from academia who got tired of trying to do something useful in the midst of the constraints of tradition.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
"Life" or something "living" is a definition that is created by humans. Therefore extraterrestrial life would be something that is living, in the context of the human definition, on another planet.

What I believe will be found is something that forces human beings to redefine their current definition of "life" or "living" to a much broader context which in some way incorporates some of the dependencies between living things.

When this discovery happens it will be a confluence of other events such as significant changes in science and technology as well as an advance in social values well beyond those that guide our decisions and direction now. Very likely there is "life" all over the universe and we are looking right at it without being able to see it.
