Personal background
All right then...My name is Brian. I'm 30 years old(I can't believe it myself), I'm in the Navy, and I enjoy working with computers. Boy this sounds like a singles ad... Anyway I'm married with two kids(that drive me crazy any chance they get).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
First off, yes I do think there are ET's out there. We're here, so I think there's a good possiblility that somewhere out there, there's another race of beings. If and when we come in contact with ET's it's going to be under two different conditions, we find them(a race technologically behind us), or they make their presence known here(a race more advanced then us). Either way, I think there's a lot we can learn.

I don't see anything wrong with transmitting a beacon for others to find. I think the information contained in it should be instructional. The thing is, I doubt an alien race is goign to immediatly understand our language. If we transmit an educational message to help learn the languages, maybe that will ease communications.

I run SETI@home just for the possibility. The possibility of being the one to help prove that they are out there. To see what the "heavy hitters" are seeing. I don't claim to understand it all, but it's cool to be a part of it.
