Personal background
I am a CNC Machinist. I'm 31 years old, I love old cars, computers, and among other things I love the idea that we are not alone. I'm here to help the Seti@Home project because I think the US gov. has it's priorities messed up. They spend millions of dollars on BS and little to no funding for SETI and other discovery programs. I'm participating because I believe in this program and because I actually have the CPU and bandwidth with nothing else to do.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I truly believe that there is intelligent life out there. I also beleive that if they are truly intelligent, they will probably not come within a million miles of us. I think mars has some interesting possibilities with the "pyramids and face" but without actually going to mars to see them, we will have to rely on discovering it in other ways. Benefits and dangers of discovery will start right here on Earth, and they are limitless. If we send a beacon it should probably say "Approach with caution". I run SETI@home because I choose to be pessimistic to the possibilities and the outcomes. I'm glad that I can help SETI and it's nice that they are open enough to allow everyone to participate.
