Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI is trying to answer one of our most fundamental questions.
Are we alone?

Although I do believe that intelligent extraterrestrial life
almost certainly exists, I doubt it will be discovered in my lifetime. On a cosmic
time scale, our efforts to find such evidence represents less than the blink
of an eye. However, regardless of the results, what could possibly be a more
worthwhile use of my extra CPU time.
