Profile: Bobblehead Pete

Personal background
I have been in the graphic arts industry for over 25 years, but my interests lie in earth science, physics and ecology. I have great passion for alternative fuel sources including hydrogen synthesis and biomass alcohol production. I feel that if we were to put the same effort into repairing the "greenhouse effects" as was placed in the WWII effort, we could quell the environmental damage within 20 years. It just takes individuals like ourselves to institute organized change.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It would be exceedingly arrogant for us to say there is no other "intelligent" life beyond our own sphere. Out of the millions of solar systems within our own galaxy one might think there would be a liquid water planet or two (to say the least) that would harbor carbon based life. Now as for the other types of life that could be out there, who knows. Society wants to stick with the warm and fuzzy types that most people consider intelligent. Who are we to judge what is intelligent or what is not?

This project has raised many eyebrows, because "It just doesn't seem like practical science." Then why does anyone look to the stars in the first place? Because we are looking for something better than ourselves or something to better what we have. Whether it be though our own device or of an intelligent "other".

I support SETI not to find "little green men," but to someday ripen our little green minds!
