Personal background
Nothing much to tell about me here: hacking on keybords since the era before the mouse conquered the desktops -- even before PCs conquered the desktops. In case somebody remembers. But still playing DnD...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Obviously, I like the idea to contribute at least a tiny bit to something bigger, more important: The enormous computing power accumulated by SETI@home demonstrates the possibility of XXL-size network computing, which is an even more important event than the detection of actual E.T. could be. Most impressive: This computing power, second to nothing, is cheap, which really changes the way things move. I'm proud to throw in my couple of CPU cycles.
