I just a home user who plays game etc. I heard about this project and downloaded it and liked it. i leave it running when i can and just turn off my monitor to get the computer doing something useful.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I think ET life does exist. the universe is such a big place it would be hard to beleive were the only ones..... If it does exist tho i think it wont be much further ahead than ourselves since our own planet seems to have a habit or regularly wiping out nearly all forms of life every 30 millions years or so.
2. Yes. If we dont make it and there IS someone out there, our signal could reach them long after we r gone. The signal that we hoped to receive in our time...
3. To make my simple home pc more useful, and this project is great. You have had about 10000 times the number of years of CPU time dedicated to the project than the CPU has even existed!
