Been a space fanatic since the late sixties. I have been to several Shuttle launches, some viewed from the Causeway, once from the Press VIP area, and several from 6,000 feet, in a rented Cessna. One of the "in air" launches was a night launch, and was out of this world. It seemed that the Shuttle was coming right at us. Would recommend that view to anyone that has the opportunity!

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Anyone that believes that there are no possibilities of other life forms in this universe has some serious blinders on! When they will be proven is a difficult question to answer. I'm sure we will need more advanced equipment than what's available presently in order to do so, however the Hubble is just the ground breaking tool. From my understanding, we are sending out a "beacon", via television and radio waves, but to send a beacon to be used to have other civilations locate and understand it would be a science in itself.

I run SETI@HOME to assist in this possibility of locating a potential beacon from elsewhere, however my little ol 266mhz is getting it's use, and is quite slow analyzing data packets. I run 3 pc's on a network at home, and all three run SETI@Home. I also install SETI@Home on any PC's that I build or repair for others, most of the time not letting them know what it is or what it's for, too many closed minds out there. ;-) At least I'll get the credit cince I install it with my user info. I think this is a fantastic project, and with the U.S. Govt. would support such a project with more inthusiasm. Spending billions and billions on blowing ourselves to kingdom come, but not a drop to find others that would be oviously more technically advanced than ourselves. "Pretty sad".

Well, signing off for now. I hope someone that runs SETI@Home gets lucky and finds that one signal!

Regards,
Bob Morgan
