Profile: Scott Wilson

Personal background
I'm a 28-year-old, Disaster recovery consultant from Canada. I came across the Seti@home website 3 years ago while looking for information on Arecibo. I have always had an interest in the stars and what might be out there. I enjoy getting out my telescope and watching celestial events from time to time. I must admit I got caught up in the statistical race at 1st, but now I just enjoy watching the results add up and knowing that I have contributed to something.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do most definitely believe that there are forms of extraterrestrial life out there. Whether or not they are intelligent enough to send or receive signals, I could not tell you.
What I do know is that we are, and yes I believe we should be sending out some type of signal with basic and complex data. Send simple data to identify us, yet complex enough to provide the recipient with information on returning a signal.
I do believe that just listening is only half the battle in the search for ET.
SETI@home is a great project, that I personally would like to see expanded in to something a whole lot more. Signal transmitting for one.
