Personal background
My name is Jeff, and I'm from the Big Island. I am 18 years old, and in about 4 months I will be 19. Currently work at the UH Learning Center as a clerk. It's a really fun job because I get to meet people from all around the world. My main objectives are to sign people in and out, schedule Placement Testings, and simply answer the phone. It sounds really simple, but not if you have to do all three at the same time. My hobbies are playing video games, doing some maintenance jobs on my computer, and surfing the internet. HawCC is the school that I am attending, and I am majoring in Liberal Arts. Once I graduate from Community College I will transfer to a University. Not really sure which University I will be going to, but hopefully I will figure it out soon.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Well, there has to be something out there in the void. And if there is, we probably wouldn't discover them for a while. Our technology is far less sophisticated then the boys in green. Though that may be true, I have a feeling that one of these days we will find ET. And it will be the SETI@home project that get's the chance to find them first. Of course, if we do discover ET everyone will be jumping with joy. But if they're hostile aliens, we are in deep dodo. It'll be like Independance Day LIVE. I surely don't want ET blowing up my house, or anybody elses house for that matter. Anyways, on with the program. I don't think we should send a beacon, we should try and find them and not let them find us. Just trying to be on the safe side, sorry for being so paranoid. I run SETI@home because it's fun, and I'm lending a helping hand in the process. I feel that in the long run, this project will be quite successful.
