Last updated 29 Nov 2019
My name is Floyd Petri and I live in Chester, Texas USA population 312 and I am the Mayor. I am a 76 year old 100% Disabled Veteran and now I am also legally blind. I am a retired Chief of Police, a retired Special Agent USACIDC, I am retired from the U.S. Army, a retired State Section Director for MUFON, retired Director for the Center for Instrumented UFO and Paranormal Research which I created in 1957 after observing a UFO, and a retired Lt. Col. Group Commander for the Civil Air Patrol. I am also an Admiral in the Texas navy. My hobbies are collecting military war relics and SETI@home data processing. I am in the process of building my own radio telescope. I first got involved with SETI@home in 1999, but for some reason the statistics show a membership date of 23 December 2000. Maybe that was when I created my CIUFOPR Group for SETI@home??? I have guarded 2 Presidents, 2 Secretarys of Defense, 3 Secretarys of the Army and 2 Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. Many Generals including foreign Generals. My first 4 years in the military was in the Strategic Air Command as a nuclear weapons specialist where I loaded Hydrogen Bombs on B-47s and B-52s. My 2nd 4 years was in Tactical Air Command as a Security Policeman for Air Base Ground Defense. The last 10 years was in the United States Army as a Special Agent CID. I was presented my Guide Dog on 5 October 2018 by Rebuilding Warriors. She is a real German German Shepherd and is extremely protective of me.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes I believe extraterrestrial life exist. We have already discovered it, but I can not talk about that. The benefits that we will have or should I say already have are many. Not limited to, but including the transister, laser, fiber optics and medical technology. I started transmitting a video and audio modulated laser beam in the 1980's as an invitation which was successful. I am glad that other organizations are now starting to do the same thing now. I am now running SETI@home in order to continue contributing to the public aspect of ufology that can be talked about. I have no suggestions to offer at this time as SETI@home appears to be well and functioning. Maybe I can talk later down the road.
