Profile: Ron McCrea

Personal background
At present I am living in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. I am 52 years old and I work for NAV CANADA as an Air Traffic Specialist. I have been doing this job for 33 years. A lot of the places I have worked and lived growing up, have been north of 60 degrees north latitude. My hobbies include fishing, walking, reading, geocaching and of course using a computer.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
In the small northern and arctic communities that I worked, we always seemed to be the place that got called when someone spotted something in the sky that they could not explain. We received these reports from local people, local pilots, commercial pilots and from international flights. This seemed to deepen my fascination with space and extra terrestrials. It was 2002 that I found out about the SETI@home project. Once I did, I tried to get every computer I had running it. I think that the project is a great idea. Having all of these home computers doing this work is using a large untapped resource. Keep up the great work.
