Profile: Andy Dunlap

Personal background
My name is Andy Dunlap. To provide some background, I am a 28-year old individual from Long Beach, California that has held a long-standing fascination with science and the incremental progress we are all making as a species to understand our increasingly complex reality. I was credited with 2 academic degrees - one in Environmental Science and the other in Urban and Regional Planning (the latter of which was earned in graduate school).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
While so many Seti@home users have stated their intent in joining the program as a function of their interests in Astronomy (per the "Stars in their Eyes" research findings), I'd like to offer a similar sentiment - I think such an endeavor of this nature is among the most monumental scientific investigations that are being conducted in modern times. To lend some computing time to support the continuation of this project for the sake of potentially revealing the answer to one of the most fundamental questions in science is a worthwhile pursuit. If astronomical odds are in my favor, perhaps I could become that lucky user who helps to unveil what appears to be a mathematically-inevitable outcome, earning roughly 2 cents and some fame along the way from a virtually guarenteed Nobel Prize honor. This project is an inspiration to people like myself that aspire to advance the scientific frontier, hoping that a day may come when humanity rejoices and looks up at the night sky reassured - we are not alone in this incomprehensibly vast and complex universe.
