Personal background
Hello. My name is Marcus, I'm from the United States, currently in Alabama (yea) but that should change soon (just not quickly enough). I'm 25, and currently a student, finishing up a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice (one of many infamous oxymorons). I'm a 1st LT in the Army Reserve, going active duty as soon as possible. You'd think with all that's on the Army's plate they'd take volunteers but they just can't seem to get around that degree thing. Bummer.
I've got the usual young person hobbies. I like sports, especially Soccer (the REAL football), I like video games, first person shooters mainly, and generally having a good time. I think that SETI@Home is a great operation, and I'm in full support (So why haven't I joined the Planetary Society yet?).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I do believe that ET exists, after all, we saw the little guy in that movie right? Seriously, yes. After all, with Earth being a minorly insignificant speck of dust in the multiverse, how can we realisticly believe there's not at least a billion other planets out there with life on them as well. I doubt humans will discover ET life in my lifetime, after all, we've only been here a couple of ten thousand years and haven't learned how to get along with our next door neighbor, let alone our neighboring countries. As such, we've yet to work together well enough to take a good leap into our own solar system, let alone the rest of our galaxy.

Transmit away! It can only do one of two things. Work or not. If it works, great, if not... no surprise there. I wouldn't want to visit Earth with all these humans on it either. :)

I run SETI@Home for the fun of it. If it helps at all, wonderful. I'm really interested in jumping up to the top of the U.S. Army team though (#10 in Govetrnment teams!) The competition is fun... and I'm getting a new computer shortly which will be much faster than even my current one, so I'll be gunning for the top 10 before too long.
