Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. There is no concievable reason that ET life does not exist.
2. We will most likely discover ET life when we thoroughly explore the Sands of Mars.
3. It will show that Earth is not an act of random convergance.
4. Benefits: The general population will learn that thought is not a linear process.
Dangers: Our xenophobic characteristics will play themselves out.
5. We should send out information on multiple frequencies because they may find us more easily than we will find them. Also, move the radio telescope(s) to the dark side of the moon.
6. Keep it simple: transmit encoded numbers like in the original.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
