Personal background
My name, Damian P. C. Jones (Patrick Christopher, not Personal Computer)
usually gets a second glance on my business card. The tag of "PC" has been
with me for as long as I can remember, feel free to call me the same if you
wish. I answer to almost anything :p

My place of birth is Honolulu, Hawaii, from there my family moved around
quite a lot through Western Europe and the United States. We eventually
settled back in Louisiana. After I completed my high school education I
went into the U.S. Army to serve for seven years where I specialized in
Communications.

While in Germany, I met and feel in love with a woman. Ilona and I have
been married (mostly) happily for eleven years now. On April 12, 1999 Ilona
gave birth to my sweet Sophia. Sophia has changed my world in so many ways I
can remember life before her.

I now work at small (650 Million) community bank in New Orleans where I have
the inside tract to the CIO position. My boss will retire in 4 years, so I
want to make sure I have my degree by then. I work a lot with all the
facets of computer department. I'm the manager for the client/server
network, PC department, and assistant manager for the Information Systems
division.

I go to the gym every morning before work and play racquetball three days a
week. I really feel there is not a better way to start a morning that a
good workout and a long swim. It is better than coffee (which I drink about
6 to 7 cups a day).

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I remember the quote from "Contact" when the woman talked about all the billions of stars and all the planets surrounding those stars. "what a terrible waste of space." That is exactly how I feel. There has to be something out there. I am not an avid star hound, but I do believe there is intelligence out there. Here is my chance to contribute to a worldwide task in a search for something great. It is like being on Star Trek without having to wear the close fitting clothes.
