My name is Jim. I live in New England, in the north eastern United States. I am currently working on a computer science degree and am a short time away from finishing. I have always been interested in space and the possibility of extraterrestrial life. I am a fan of Stephen Hawking(RIP) and Carl Sagan and am studying their work. I have a small 114 mm reflector and am always anticipating clear skies.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I discovered SETI@home through my Astronomy Instructor. She mentioned it in this weeks lecture and I joined the instant I heard about it. I am not willing to accept that we are alone in the universe and want to be a part of figuring that out. I love the thought behind this project and the ability of home users to allocate some of their resources to help. I only wish there were a way to hear the recordings from the interface, even if only small snippets.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
