Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think that extraterrestrial life exist. But I am not completely convinsed that we will ever discover it. After all it might not even be intelligent life thats out there. And at the rate we humans declare war it´s more likley we kill each other than make friends with someone else. One of the dangers of discovering extraterrestrial life is War! Just look at USA and the muslim fundametalists, what will the US do when another spices is discoverd?! The way they act now suggest that the will start a galaxywar!

I belive we should transmit a becon for others to find. That way the search wouldn´t be onesided. And what happneds if every planet thinks that way, 'Let´s just search for others signals and not send our own...'? It sould contain mathematical information which can be read by any civilization.

I run SETI@home partly for a boring reason, I feel that I might as well do someting useful with the computerpower thats just standing around. But then why choose SETI@home? Well simpley because I have always been facinated by space, and the thought of finding life somewhere else in the universe really thrills me. And I think that this is a great project, the thought of letting home users help calculate the data with their unused CPU power is great. With more sharing like that us humans could really acomplish someting great.
