| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

| People find out I crunch SETI and ask - "why?". I have to respond - "why not?". I have plenty of CPU cycles going spare, and I don't mind them going to a good cause. The reason why I stick with SETI@home instead of moving onto the less esoteric, more "worthy" projects (Folding@home, calculating Mersenne primes etc) is simply because I've invested too much time, effort and electricity in SETI to give it up now! Besides which, the teenage sci-fi fan within me still thinks that hunting for aliens is kind of cool... ;) |
