Personal background
Well I am a computer services (applications development) owner, and a programmer at heart. IN OTHER WORDS, I'M GEEKY AND DAMN PROUD OF IT!!! Originally I am from Louisville, Ky., and as big of a Ky Wildcats fan as they come. I have reached that 30 yr old milestone (like the ones we sit around and wait for our computers to reach so we can have another link in our stats for downloading the cool pictures with our names on them...!) and feel great about it. My hobbies ranch far and wide, like the huge expanse out there we call home. I love sports, games, books, solving problems, and of course GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS!!! I find life to be the biggest challange, to find something new each day to entertain myself with, and to get the biggest and best laugh from. Well, that is me in a nutshell (no, I will not emulate Austin Powers here...) so take care a good processing.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I absolutely believe there are others out there. Why not!!! Hell of a big space just for our set of species on this planet. Will we see other? Hmmm. I think if as a race we find the capacity to live with and accept each other, then yes. Only together will we accomplish this, either by being contacted, or making that all important first call ourselves. When we are sitting around wasting our time and resources fighting, killing and playing war, if someone is looking in on us, why should they stop and say hello. They see us as the dysfunctional family down the block that is always screaming and yelling at 3:00 am...
By us not having the sense of being alone is this whole galaxy, and seeing the benefits from cooperative learning, I think meeting others has benefits that no credit card commercials could tag..!! (think priceless ;] ) If aliens are agressive, then, well, we would have to defend if we could. Simple. Just hope that a situation like that does not occur.
We have the technology to send the signals, so why not. Being afraid never solved any challenges. We should send grettings in any ways we know how, but I would definitely recommend that we not include one of those cans where the snakes pop out. Be a hell of a way to start an interstellar war huh?
Well the screen saver is cool as hell. I do it though because I get to be a part of what I said above. A collection of people all over the world that put aside personal differences to help acheive a common goal that could benefit us all. PLUS - It would be cool to name something if you found it!!!!
I think the project is a total success, and would only recommend that you keep on keeping on and lets find those thingees!!!!!

Peace.
