Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I would be surprised to learn that life doesn't exist almost anywhere that liquid water is available.

I am increasingly doubtful that the human race will survive long enough to discover extraterrestrial life. We really have a talent for focusing on our own petty concerns, completely overlooking the big picture.

If we did discover extraterrestrial life, it would be "...the most profoundly impactfull discovery in the history of history". The effects on the human race of such a discovery can not be predicted. We would probably start a war.

We should not transmit a beacon for others to find. Duh.

I run SETI@home because you never know what you will find until you look.

I think the project as a whole is a fantastic example of the most positive attributes of the human race.
