Profile: Lance Pierce

Personal background
I'm Lance and I'm 38. I live in Ely Nevada but I'm originally from Sacramento CA. Ely is a nice small town, where most everyone knows everyone else. Been here going on 8 years (as of June of '04). I am employed as a Senior Correctonal Officer at the Ely Maximum Security Prison. I am also a Volunteer Firefighter. I don't know much about computers except the basics. I can build one from parts and probably get it to work too. But that's about it. Hobbies include 4-wheeling, shooting, camping, and exploring ghost towns. Real ghost towns and ruins, not any of that Hollywood type of ghost town. Not being married makes it easier to go out and have a beer and play some pool if I want to. Not that I do that too often though. I'm not into boozin' it to excess. Other than that, I'm just your normal kind of guy.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I originally came across SETI@home because of an article in a newspaper. I looked into the idea of loaning my computer out on its down time and really don't mind leaving it on all the time anyway. So, since I already believe that intelligent life exists out there, what the heck. Maybe I might get lucky and be the one whose computer found a message from an ET. Only human arrogance dictates that we can be the only intelligent life in the universe.
