Personal background
I've been a musician all my life. Over the past 8 years I've learned to play about eight instruments, and I'm still working on expanding. I'm currently a music education student under the great saxophone virtuoso, James Houlik, at Duquesne University.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm almost sure extraterrestrial life exists. But as to how it will be discovered, that is too hard to answer. The universe is a very eratic and constantly changing place, and looking for life is like looking for one specific piece of hay in one colossal haystack. Because of this, I believe we will not make a discovery of life, but instead, somebody else will discover us. Our technology is changing so rapidly to the point that a new computer becomes outdated in a month. But with this in mind, think of what a race could acheive if they have only existed for 1,000 more years than we have. The possibilites are endless. And if extraterrestrials do finally land on earth I believe the only way to posess such technology to do so would be through peaceful methods. As our race has grown and evolved, look how humane we have become to each other. The only way a race can better itself is through peaceful cooperation. As for when humans will discover another race...Does it really matter? Times may change, but even if contact is made with aliens, won't we continue to search for more. Space is the final fronteir, and its a pretty large place to explore.
