Personal background
I'm a 37 year old software engineer that enjoys spending time with my two girls, riding my motorcycle with my wife, cooking, space, R/C airplanes, and programming.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes I think ET exists. I don't know how or when humans will discover them but I don't think it will be in my lifetime. If we do, a possible benefit would be a revitalization of the space program. I feel we don't invest enough in our space program and finding ET might help.
2. Yes we should transmit a beacon. We should send: "Hi from planet Earth. Approach slowly because we like to shoot first and ask why your visiting second."
3. I run SETI@home to help find ET. I think it's a great project. Send out or allow us to print 'real' certificates.
