Personal background
I'm a 31 year old dude living in San Diego. I've been processing SETI unites for a few years now, and sometimes can get more done than other times. I work in software, so often times I have computers sitting around waiting to do things, and that's a perfect candidate to install the seti command line client.

I like having a bunch of work units done; makes me feel like I'm doing my part to look for ET. :-)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) For the razor thin chance that I'm helping us to locate life beyond our own planet.

2) I'm glad it exists, and glad to be a part of it. I've been processing work units off and on for about 10 years now.

3) Stick with it long term. Even on a powerful machine it takes hours to process a work unit. The real value shows up when you've been slugging away for years.
